The SFF Project Don’t Muddy the Water has quantified the effectiveness of sediment retention ponds (SRP) and vegetated buffer strips in cultivated horticultural production. The research, guidelines, and DMTW app have been linked together using Erosion & Sediment Control Plans. These plans include a practical implementation plan that can be audited through the NZ GAP assurance scheme. Soil erosion is a major issue that the industry needs to ensure it has under control and can demonstrate that it has under control. When E&S Control Plans are implemented the industry has a story that is very hard to beat. We just need to get better at implementing and telling our story!
