Biography

Tofilau Talalelei Taufale – Te Whatu Ora

Tofilau is of Samoan Heritage from the villages of Iva, Luatuanu’u and Falelatai.  Based in Hawke’s Bay, he is currently the Interim RSE National Lead and Interim Commissioning Lead for the Pacific Directorate of Te Whatu Ora.  Prior to this he was the Pacific Health Manager for the previous Hawke’s Bay District Health Board.  Of more recent note he led the Pacific COVID-19 response and the Pacific Cyclone Gabrielle Response for the region. He is well regarded for his work to support the health and wellbeing needs for all RSE workers and his ability to work across agency’s, the horticulture industry and iwi.

Tofilau also holds a number of governance positions at National and local levels. He is a director of the award winning USO Bike Ride, a Pacific health and wellbeing cycling initiative.
