Biography
Samantha Baldwin – Plant & Food Research
Samantha Baldwin is a science group leader for the Annual Crops breeding group at Plant & Food Research (PFR), based at Lincoln. Samantha received her PhD from Otago University studying the polyploid genetics of potato. Samantha has led the Annual Crops breeding programme overseeing the delivery of new cultivars both in Aotearoa-NZ and internationally across different species. Samantha is also co-leader of the Hua Ki Te Ao Horticulture goes Urban Direction, a PFR Growing FuturesTM programme. In this programme she is currently leading the science strategy to underpin new industries including vertical farming of perennial fruits and vines.
