Georgina Griffiths – MetService

Georgina Griffiths is an Auckland-based meteorologist with over 30 years’ experience forecasting New Zealand weather.

Like all MetService forecasters, she is qualified to the highest level and has access to the full suite of forecast tools and weather models available over New Zealand.

Georgina has considerable experience assisting New Zealand organisations during severe weather events – when it really counts. This includes a decade of impact-based forecasting for Auckland Council Emergency Management. This year has been extremely busy, and she is often seen briefing the Mayor, media, and Aucklanders on what to expect during severe weather events.

Georgina also leads a team of consultant meteorologists across Australia and New Zealand, who partner with organisations who need reliable weather information ((Waka Kotahi, Rocket Lab, etc). In her spare time, she enjoys sailing around the northern NZ coastline with her husband and their two children.  There’s usually a bit of debate about sail changes and skippering, given they are both qualified Ocean Yacht Masters (and are both stubborn).
