Biography

Emma Warmerdam – Ministry for Primary Industries

Emma is an Incursion Investigator in the MPI Plant Health Team and is based in Ōtautahi. The team investigates suspected post border breaches of New Zealand’s biosecurity that may impact plant health. Where the presence of an exotic organism is confirmed, they take urgent measures to eradicate it or transition it to a biosecurity response if wider coordination is needed. Emma received her Bachelor of Science in 2021 from Victoria University of Wellington majoring in Environmental Science and Marine Biology. Prior to her role as an Incursion Investigator Emma was on the MPI Graduate Development Programme gaining experience as an Analyst in Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service and a Science and Good Practice Adviser in the National Wilding Conifer Control Programme.
