Jesssica Vereijssen – Plant & Food Research

Jessica is a Senior Scientist in the Adaptive Entomology Group at Plant & Food Research, based in Lincoln, and the Leader of the Insect Dynamics, Ecology, and Sustainability team. She was trained as an entomologist and plant pathologist at Wageningen University in The Netherlands, from which she received her PhD in Plant Pathology. Her research focuses on (invasive) insect vectors and the plant pathogenic organisms they may vector: where are they in the environment, how they interact with each other and crops, and how to sustainably manage them. She also is the Theme Leader for Surveillance & Response in the Better Border Biosecurity (B3) research collaboration.

Best practice in open field crops – Pest management

Dr Vereijssen has over 25 years’ experience in entomology and pathology, she specialist expertise on insect and pathogen population dynamics, ecology, integrated management, biocontrols and vector-disease management. Here Jessica will discuss a toolbox approach to managing pests within annual crop systems, how new tools can be integrated into current systems and share Plant & Food Research’s experiences from other crop systems.
